snowflakes...day 2...

another day of snowflakes!

these aren't the pretty kind we had yesterday.

these are the kind that you can see blow across the prairie,

hear blow across the prairie,

the kind that make it so bitterly cold outside,

and the kind that make it especially sweet to be inside.

the sun is shining thru the bitterly cold, blowing snow.

the ring around the sun is a sundog.
the sundog forecasts cold weather.
i'm forecasting the same...

snowflakes...

my home is decorated with snowflakes on the inside...

and the outside!


it has been snowing all morning and shows no signs of stopping!

i'm not complaining! i love snow, and today,

because of the snow,

i get to be home,

cozy and warm,

all day!

i'm a happy girl...

outing...

my husband, daughter, and i

got together with my

dad and mom,

brothers and sisters,

niece and nephews,

great-niece and great-nephews!

we were celebrating christmas!

finally!

we live about 30 miles from my dad and mom.

this is what we saw along the way~

buffalo!

this rock foundation is in the buffalo pasture. it is incredible! i love rocks and it has fascinated me for a long time. i would love to have seen the house that once sat on this foundation!

this is open water! not too incredible except that it was -5 at the time! the current keeps it from freezing!
isn't that amazing?

i love water and i love snow so this is all

incredibly beautiful to me!

and the time we spent with my family
was as amazing as the scenery along the way!

snowy and cold...

the snow and the cold are here to stay. and that's ok by me! i'm looking forward to a long winter!

i am sooo ready to hibernate in our home and enjoy the snow and the cold from the inside where it's all warm and cozy!

i hope to slow down and relax some during my hibernation but i also hope to get busy and work on some projects around the house and to stitch and sew some crafts! fun, fun, fun! so bring on the snow and the cold...

a white world...

it's a white world outside my door! it's also beautiful! the storm that was set to hit the midwest over christmas did just that! and this is what it left behind! drifts of fluffy, white snow everywhere! i've mentioned before that i love snow. it is so peaceful to me. it quiets the earth and envelops it in a white blanket.

it really couldn't be any more beautiful than this...

from rain to snow...

and today it snowed. not our first snow of the season, by any means! another snow! it lasted most of the morning and now we are left with patches of white. it feels cozy and peaceful to be inside while it snows. i looooove snow so i enjoyed it while it lasted. we'll see what tomorrow's weather brings. we know, living in south dakota, that our weather always changes.
